Un anno fa, New York City stava iniziando a chiudere i battenti a causa della pandemia. In questi ultimi 12 mesi, il Paese e la nostra città sono stati testimoni di profondi sconvolgimenti, cambiamenti e perdite. L'impatto degli eventi del 2020 non può essere sopravvalutato. Gli appelli alla giustizia sociale e all'equità razziale hanno guidato le conversazioni tanto necessarie in tutto il paese e all'interno del Guggenheim. In tutto il museo, il nostro lavoro per creare percorsi verso un'istituzione più inclusiva e diversificata è ben avviato. Restiamo impegnati a mantenere la nostra promessa.
Con il vaccino contro il coronavirus (COVID-19) arriva la speranza che amici e famiglie possano ritrovarsi in sicurezza ancora una volta, forse già questa estate. I newyorkesi sono pronti. La comunità delle arti dello spettacolo, determinata a vedere di nuovo i suoi artisti sul palco, sta pianificando eventi dal vivo, all'aperto e al chiuso. Ti invitiamo a provare un senso di connessione al Guggenheim in un modo nuovo con Re / Projections: Video, Film e Performance for the Rotunda. Questa serie di presentazioni variegate si apre il 19 marzo con un programma di video proiettati nella rotonda e visibili da più punti di vista.

Ogni primavera il Guggenheim celebra i bambini delle scuole pubbliche di New York che partecipano al nostro pionieristico programma Learning Through Art. Dear Friends,
One year ago, New York City was beginning to close down due to the pandemic. In these last 12 months, the country and our city have witnessed profound disruption, change, and loss. The impact of the events of 2020 cannot be overstated. The calls for social justice and racial equity drove much-needed conversations around the country and within the Guggenheim. Across the museum, our work to forge paths toward a more inclusive and diverse institution is well underway. We remain committed to fulfilling our promise.
With the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine comes the hope that friends and families will be able to safely gather once again, perhaps as soon as this summer. New Yorkers are ready. The performing arts community, determined to see its artists on stage again, is making plans for live events, outdoors as well as indoors. We are pleased to welcome back Works & Process performances in the rotunda, with limited capacity and following health guidelines. Tickets will be on sale soon.
We invite you to experience a sense of connection at the Guggenheim in a new way with Re/Projections: Video, Film, and Performance for the Rotunda. This series of varied presentations opens on March 19 with a program of videos screened in the rotunda and visible from multiple vantage points.
Twelve collection artists who challenge the authority of mainstream documentation are featured in Off the Record, which opens on April 2. And beginning on May 7 we proudly present works by artist Deana Lawson, the first photographer to receive the Hugo Boss Prize.
Each spring the Guggenheim celebrates the New York City public school children who participate in our pioneering Learning Through Art program. Learning Through Art has continued during the pandemic, with students in grades two through six creating artworks at home under the remote guidance of teaching artists. This year marks the fiftieth year that the Guggenheim’s trailblazing program has brought the visual arts to public school students across New York.
The spirit of New Yorkers coming together to help the city regain its strength is reflected in the new NY Forever campaign campaign. Museums are active contributors to our vibrant city and offer visitors a place of inspiration, creativity, and community. While we have the city to ourselves a while longer, I encourage you to visit the Guggenheim and the many worthwhile exhibitions on view at other New York City art museums.
